21st December 2011
During the Christmas period the children have been celebrating this festive time in their own special way, on Wednesday 14th and Thursday 15th of December not a dry eye was to be found as our pre-school children performed 2 plays specially put on for the parents. The first of these was ‘Whoops a Daisy Angel’ where our very own Milly stole the show as the title character and along with all of the other performances on these 2 afternoons of Shepherds, Kings, Angels, Snowflakes and of course Mary and Joseph, we wouldn’t be surprised if a few budding actors were in our midst . Our second show gave everybody another opportunity to bring lumps to throats and the odd tissue to the eye as Evie gave a great rendition as Father Christmas and the grand finale of ‘The Christmas cracker song’ was a huge success before the children took their bows to great and very well deserved applause. At the end of the second show a visit from Janette Drew from the NSPCC, who gave us all a lovely speech thanking the nursery for all of the hard work put in over the years, gave everybody a very fitting reminder of the true spirit of Christmas and the need to help others at this festive time. On Monday 19th a traditional Christmas dinner of roast Turkey and Yuletide log with custard was followed on the Tuesday by our annual Christmas party with a visit from the man himself. The children enjoyed party games, dancing, festive foods and party hats, blowers and crackers all of which were rounded off with a visit to Santa’s grotto and special present for everyone. Can We take this opportunity at Oakmount of wishing children, parent’s, grandparent’s, auntie’s, uncles, friends and relatives a very merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous new year. Merry Christmas to all.
