Oakmount was purchased by Rosemary in April of 1997 and at the time had only 12 children and 4 members of staff, by the end of 1999, through word of mouth, the nursery had reached its full capacity and had more than 70 children on the books and so a decision was made to look at expanding the premises to fit the many children who were on the ever expanding waiting list. The family home adjacent to the nursery seemed like a perfect option and in 2000, when it came up for sale Rosemary leapt at the chance and several months later the new baby unit was complete and ready for action. The first babies to use this new unit went in in May 2000 and the 50 new places created by the expansion were soon on their way to being filled. This move to larger premises also gave Rosemary the opportunity to utilise some of the space made available through the move and so a specially designed soft play and sensory room was created from what was the old baby room. This area gave the staff and children the chance to make smaller group sizes and the opportunity arose for safe, stimulating play that was a change for the children away from their normal rooms. As well as this new indoor play area 2 new outside areas were also created taking the total of separate outside play spaces to 4, which again gave the children a far greater amount of choice when in the nursery. Through all of these changes and many more the philosophy of the nursery put in place by Rosemary back in 1997 has remained , Oakmount is a family nursery and, whilst professional throughout, this family feeling remains to this day.
